The weights in the variomatic transmission determine the change in the transmission ratio ("shifting behavior") while driving. These weights should always be adjusted during tuning measures to increase performance so that, on the one hand, the variator does not "upshift" too early and thus the potential power of the engine cannot be converted and, on the other hand, the engine does not rev too high and suffer damage (and/or fuel consumption increases excessively).
Worn rollers should also be replaced so that the transmission "shifts" cleanly again and does not jam.

When tuning the vario rollers, the rule of thumb is that the lighter the weights, the later the "upshift", i.e. the engine revs higher for sporty riding. The reverse is also true: the heavier the rollers, the earlier the variator "shifts up" and the engine remains in the low speed range; more for leisurely cruising.
