Tip: Experienced mechanics recommend replacing the coolant when changing the cylinder, as it loses quality after about two years and may clump, clogging seals or fins. However, make sure you use the correct coolant. The rule of thumb is: Never mix silicate-containing with silicate-free coolants. However, it's often impossible to determine which coolant was used, and a complete fluid change is nearly impossible because contaminants have built up in the lines.
