This fuel tap is used on machines with a drop fuel system. The mode of operation of the so-called "drop fuel system" is simple. The gasoline simply flows from the fuel tank to the carburetor by "falling" - i.e. by gravity. The simple design of the fuel tap makes it hardly prone to errors. However, even the fuel tap is not immune to wear and tear. For example, the seals can harden, dry out or become brittle. The gaskets suffer and no longer seal properly. Fuel can then leak out at the fuel tap or false air can enter the system.
