This fuel tap is used on machines with a drop fuel system. The functioning of the so-called "drop fuel system" is simple. The petrol simply "falls" - by gravity - from the fuel tank to the carburettor.
If the petrol tap is getting on in years, this can have major consequences for your vehicle. An uncontrolled fuel supply overloads the carburettor. The float chamber fills up and no more air can be drawn. The moped cannot produce any power. It can also happen that the float chamber simply overflows. Then you are spreading your precious fuel all over the place.
