DESCRIPTION:
These new gears are the result of twenty years of Malossi experience in the design and manufacture of gears for road and competition scooters. Thanks to the H.t.q. spur gearing, the friction loss and the pressure on the bearings can be reduced to a minimum.
In addition, our new gears allow you to lengthen the gear ratio, which allows you to exploit the full power of your vehicle and ensure a remarkable submission compared to the original machine. These drive gears are mainly for scooters and maxi scooters. The sport gears from MALOSSI and POLINI are mainly straight toothed. This means that the surface area of the intermeshing teeth is smaller and thus the friction is also reduced.
Reduced friction in the gear area results in less heat and better power transfer to the rear tyre.

TECHNICAL DATA:
- Malossi primary, pressed, diameter 17.7mm.
- For a PIAGGIO/GILERA engine the following special features regarding the gearbox have to be considered:
- Until 1996, PIAGGIO used 18mm geared gearboxes.
- From 1996 to 1998 PIAGGIO reduced the diameter of the intermediate shaft from 18mm to 17.7mm. To avoid wrong orders, you should measure the shaft diameter to be on the safe side.
- Since 1998/99 PIAGGIO installs a new large gear on the main shaft. The previously internally toothed pinion is replaced from this period by an internally smooth pinion for pressing.
- Before ordering a gear ratio, please measure exactly on the engine and pay attention to the toothing/pressing!
