The weights in the variator determine the change in the gear ratio ("shifting behavior") while driving. These weights should always be adjusted during tuning measures to increase performance, so that, on the one hand, the variator doesn't "upshift" too early, thus preventing the engine's potential power from being utilized, and, on the other hand, the engine doesn't rev too high and become damaged (and/or excessively increase fuel consumption). Worn rollers should also be replaced so that the transmission shifts smoothly and doesn't seize.
