Bis in die 1990er Jahre stellten die Nürnberger Hercules Werke Mofas, Mopeds und Mokicks her. Hercules war eine der bekanntesten und etabliertesten Zweiradmarken der Nürnberger Motorradindustrie. Gegründet wurde das Unternehmen im Jahre 1886 von Carl Marschütz unter dem Firmennamen "Velozipedfabrik Carl Marschütz & Co.".
Um die Kabel der Lichtmaschine nach Außen verlegen zu können, ist im Motorgehäuse eine Öffnung. Diese wird mit Hilfe des Kabeldurchführungsgummis verschlossen, so dass keine Fremdkörper in den Motor gelangen. Die Kabel werden dann durch die im Gummi vorhandenen Löcher geführt.
