DESCRIPTION:
The oil pump is the most important part on a two-stroke engine. This oil pump is installed on all two-stroke engines from the Piaggio group with automatic engine, i.e. Piaggio, Gilera, Vespa and Derbi. Two-stroke engines get their lubrication from mixed oil and do not have a closed oil circuit like four-stroke engines. If the oil pump does not work, the oil film breaks and you can destroy the entire engine if the crankshaft, crankshaft bearings, pistons and cylinders are no longer lubricated.
The oil pumps normally last forever, but if you miss the right time to change them, you unfortunately have two problems at once, namely that you have to repair a lot more and that the scooter is then still old and the price of the repair bites with the current value.
A solution would therefore be to say, at 20000 km I change the oil pump, no matter whether the old still runs, then I have in return my peace and do not have to worry that the engine bearings and crankshaft and pistons and cylinders must be changed.
