BESCHREIBUNG:
Die Zylinder eines Verbrennungsmotors bilden gemeinsam mit dem Kolben und dem Zylinderkopf den Arbeits- und Brennraum.
Je nach Motorkonstruktion haben sie entweder direkten Kontakt zum Kühlwasser, metallischen Kontakt zum Motorblock oder sie werden fest in den Motorblock eingegossen. Die Materialauswahl stellt sicher, dass ein guter Wärmetransfer an den Motorblock oder an das Kühlwasser stattfinden kann.
Die Zylinderwand wird bei laufendem Motor mit Motoröl benetzt. Damit wird eine ausreichende Schmierung der im Zylinder auf und ab laufenden Kolben und der Kolbenringe sichergestellt.
Der Zylinder bildet mit dem Kolben das Herzstück eines jeden Fahrzeugs. Ohne Zylinder kein Motor!
